LEGAL AND RISK MANAGER
An exciting opportunity exists for a Legal and Risk Manager to join the team at one of our clients in Hillcrest.
Key Responsibilities
- Provision of legal advice and opinions to the organisation.
- Ensure legal compliance with legislative/statutory requirements.
- Management of all litigation matters, ensuring timely responses and adherence to deadlines.
- Manage labour matters.
- Ensuring the provision of negotiation, drafting, editing and review of legal documents and contracts.
- Provision of corporate governance & policy development.
- Ensure the development and implementation of integrated risk management.
- Ensure business continuity programme management.
- Ensure the provision of risk identification, assessment, mitigation, control and reporting.
- Improve the Risk Management’s internal controls for compliance to legislation, policies and procedures.
- Prepare risk management reports to Exco and the Board
- Provision of leadership and people management.
Key Knowledge and Skills
- Contract drafting and negotiation.
- Litigation and dispute resolution.
- Legal research and opinion writing.
- Corporate governance and compliance management.
- Risk identification and mitigation strategies.
- Policy and legislative drafting.
Minimum Qualifications
- LLB Degree as recognised by SAQA or equivalent.
- A postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage
- Admission as an Attorney in South Africa
- Unendorsed Code 08 / B Driver’s Licence.
Minimum experience
- Minimum of 5+ year’s post-admission legal experience in a law firm or corporate legal environment.
- 3 years’ experience in a similar position or practicing attorney.
- Experience in commercial, corporate, and business law.
- Experience in regulatory compliance, risk management, and litigation.
Strong understanding of public sector legal frameworks.
