Reporting to the Manager: Strategic Support & Analytics the Officer: Communications and Marketing, is required to have a finger on the pulse on news breaking developments in the sector to enable the company to respond in a timeous and relevant manner to protect the interests of municipalities and to stay abreast of developments in the LG Sector and to brainstorm ways in which to communicate and market the company

Planning & Coordination: Assist with administration duties of communication and marketing team e.g. expediting requisitions to supply
chain management; in collaboration with the Editor, responsible for the content and appearance of each edition; publishing newsletter on
intranet; sourcing and formatting images.
Marketing: Assist Manager: Strategic Support and Analytics / Director: Marketing and Communications in managing integrated marketing
and communications campaigns across offline and online tactics; assist in outbound or inbound marketing activities by demonstrating
expertise in various areas (content development and optimization, advertising, events planning etc.);plan and execute initiatives to reach the
target audience through appropriate channels (social media, e-mail, etc.);provide support in development and execution of internal and
external marketing campaigns.
Research & Analysis: Assist in analysing communication and marketing data (campaign results, conversion rates, traffic etc.) to help shape future marketing strategies; assist in developing and organise ideas derived from online/offline research; brainstorm ideas for communication and marketing campaigns with team under the guidance of the Manager: Strategic Support and Analytics / Director: Marketing and Communications
Monitoring and Evaluation: Ensure that policies, communication and marketing guidelines are adhered to by SALGA staff; monitor the effectiveness and impact of the communication and marketing campaigns and develop and implement corrective actions to improve.
Sound Governance and Risk Management: Anticipate and identify reputational and other risks in the production and communication of content and take corrective actions to mitigate the risks in a proactive manner; uphold sound corporate governance principles in the day-today work and comply with policies, procedures and standards.
Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or Communications (Including mass communication), Marketing, or any other related field;
At least 3 years’ relevant experience in a content development and/or editing position for a business and conducting developmental and
substantive language edits on technical material;
Demonstrates a sound understanding of the Local Government Sector;
Sound track record in effectively managing stakeholder engagements at all levels;
Proven Records of publications (print/ electronic);
May be required to travel;
Valid Driver’s License.
