JOB OUTLINE
REGIONAL MANAGER
NORTHERN CAPE
PERMANENT
 
Reports to – Divisional Executive – SME and Development Fund
 
Overview:
 
Pro-actively drive new business development within the region, identifying new business opportunities and developing and negotiating applications, focusing on the organisation’s organisational objectives and strategies.
 
Responsibilities:
 
Advancing BBBEE • Number and value of deals approved, committed and disbursed per annum – grow the portfolio in the Northern Cape Province
• Source quality deals
 
 
2. Maximise Empowerment Dividend • Invest in deals that create jobs
• Identify and increase the value of investments in companies owned by black women
 
 
3. Financial, Financial Efficiency and Sustainability
• Ensure that deals that quality deals are closed and funded to strengthen the portfolio and maximise returns
• Minimize the impairments and to ensure that the ratio does not exceed the organisational ceiling
• Maximise the collections ratio (as a percentage of total instalments) from clients which should be in line or exceed the organisational targe
 
4. Post Investment: Active Portfolio Management for the Region
• Conduct client site visit in the region
• Present reports on clients to Portfolio Management Committee
• Identify potential challenges and recommend appropriate interventions, including mentorship
• Work with the Post Investment Unit to perform yearly security valuations on the portfolio of investments in the region
• Work with the Post Investment Unit to perform equity valuations where the company as invested in shares/equity
• Conduct empowerment dividend and complete questionnaires under the guidance of the Post Investment
 
Collect management accounts and perform analysis thereof and report to Post Investment Manager as part of ongoing portfolio management
 
5. Stakeholder and Client Management
• Manage and have meetings with stakeholders, both private and public sector
• Conduct business development to generate quality deal flow  
• Manage and deal with enquiries and complaints from clients
 
6. Internal Processes and Leadership • Ensure that the regional office adheres to all the internal processes
• Address audit findings and assist the DE in strengthening controls
• Lead and manage the regional staff as well as ensure they deliver on their KPAs
• Manage staff performance for the region
 
 
Qualifications/Experience Required:
Essential
    • B Com, B Com (Hons), CFA, CA (SA), MBA, B. Engineering
Preferred
Post graduate degree in Finance, Accounting and/or Tax, and/or Auditing
 
Skills Required:
 
Essential
• Deal making experience
• P Have a working knowledge of SA Corporate law including the Companies Act,
• Minimum of five years’ experience in the SME funding environment, venture capital and/or development finance arenas.
• Sound technical and industry knowledge of the SME environment.
• Well-developed business networks and proven ability to generate deal flow.
• Strong technical and industry knowledge of the BBB-EE financing market including understanding of evolution of BBB-EE financing and BBB-EE Codes of Good Practice.
• Working knowledge of BBB-EE financing structures, equity investments and mezzanine financing structures.
• Some understanding of corporate finance disciplines such as valuation techniques.
• Working knowledge of financing documents such as sale and purchase agreement and shareholders agreements.
• Strong credit and risk analysis skills.
• Previous experience in managing people / professional teams.
• Well-developed presentation, written and verbal communication skills
• Strong inter-personal skills.
• Strong organizational and strategic orientation.
• Experience in development and implementation of strategic and business plans
 
Preferred
• Previous experience in managing an SME financing business Unit as well as a corporate finance business unit within a portfolio management and dealing with clients
