Overview/Objective of the role:
The primary objective of this engagement is to ensure that MRAC and MOSAC committees are
efficiently supported through dedicated programme management, resulting in:
- Streamlined development and review of mining health and safety legislation;
- Improved coordination among stakeholders;
- Timeous delivery of draft regulations and guidelines;
- Comprehensive record-keeping and compliance reporting.
Qualification and Experience Required (Mandatory):
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (NQF7) in Mining, Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or
Occupational Health and Safety.
- Relevant certificate of competency based on the field of expertise (e.g. but not limited to GCC,
MEC, MMC, Chamber of Mines Certificate etc.).
- Project management qualifications is an added advantage.
- 5 years` post graduate experience (excluding graduate training) in the mining industry
- 2 years’ experience in the management of projects or programmes.
- 2 years’ experience in people management.
DETAILED SCOPE OF WORK/SPECIFICATION
The detailed scope of work for the Programme Manager is as follows:
Lead, Coordinate and Manage the development/ update of the following OHS legislative documents and guidelines:
MRAC MOSAC
Chapter 4: Revision of Explosives Regulations Development of a Guideline on Winches
Development of regulations for transportation,
storage, handling and use of hydrogen in the SAMI.
Chapter 15: Development of Qualifications and
Competencies Regulations
- Manage activities of task teams and committees in undertaking the update or development of the guidelines and
regulations.
- Ensure ongoing communication and interaction with stakeholders on matters related to OHS legislation.
- Manage the temp committee administrator.
- The Programme Manager is required to provide dedicated support to the Mine Rescue Advisory Committee
(MRAC) and Mining Occupational Safety Advisory Committee (MOSAC) for a period of 12 months. Theappointment is intended to assist the organization in clearing a backlog of legislative deliverables andimproving overall efficiency in regulatory development and coordination.
