Employee Relations Officer – Permanent – Centurion
Salary: up to R501,775.00pa
 
Purpose of the role:
Reporting to the Senior Manager: Employee Relations, the successful incumbent is accountable to facilitate and coordinate Employee Relations services by ensuring compliance with applicable legislative frameworks, policies and resolutions within The Company.
 
Minimum Requirements and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s Degree/ Advanced Diploma in:
        • Human Resources Management or Labour Relations related qualification.
    • Relevant 3 years’ experience in a Human Resource environment.
    • 3–5 years relevant working experience in:
        • Employee Relations / Labour Relations
        • Disciplinary and grievance handling
        • CCMA case preparation and representation
        • Stakeholder engagement in ER contexts
    • In-depth knowledge of:
        • Labour Relations Act
        • Basic Conditions of Employment Act
        • Employment Equity Act
        • Relevant public sector HR legislation
 
Key Performance Areas:
Provide Effective Employee Relations Services Across the Organisation
    • Administer and investigate grievances.
    • Participate in the facilitation, initiation and investigation of misconduct cases.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable legislative framework, policies, resolutions, plans and strategies relating to employee relations.
 
Document Control
    • Maintain ER records of daily activities.
    • Maintaining an effective filing system.
    • Ensure that the filing system is always up-to-date and functional.
    • Ensure the retrieval of information at all times as requested in the office.
    • Ensure confidentiality of all documents under control and that documentation reaches the intended recipients.
    • Acknowledge the receipt of documentation, apply a file number allocation, record data onto computer system and file appropriately.
 
Reporting
    • Reporting in respect of grievances, disciplinary cases, CCMA and Labour Relations disputes for management consideration.
    • Consolidate misconduct and industrial action reports for management consideration.
    • Facilitate the reporting on employment equity processes.
    • Monitor statistical records in respect of grievances, disciplinary and disputes handled within the department. (Statistical breakdown is normally required at the end of the year.
 
Stakeholder Management
    • Form part of the team that provides employee relations related advice to The Company employees
    • Promote sound labour relations awareness within the organisation through training and management directives.
    • Liaise with business stakeholders to obtain and share data and information required.
    • Maintain healthy relationships with all stakeholders.
    • Follow up and resolving all queries, following up and making recommendations on which corrective actions are appropriate.
    • Coordinate and facilitate responses requested from the department both internally and externally.
    • Follow up and feedback to all employees, branches and third parties to keep them updated on a status of the query.
    • Respond to queries within the predefined turnaround times.
