SQL Database Administrator (24-Month Fixed Term Contract) – Centurion
Salary: R50k to R75k (Based on Experience)
Overview:
To plan, manage, administer and secure system databases as well as troubleshoot any database issues affecting system performance and ensure data quality across the databases.
Minimum Requirements and Experience:
- BSC Degree in:
- Computer Science, or
- B. Tech or Advanced Diploma or relevant equivalent qualification at NQF level 7.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in SQL Server database administration or similar role.
- Knowledge and experience with:
- Database Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO).
- Backups, restores and recovery models.
- Knowledge and experience of:
- High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
- Knowledge and experience with:
- Windows Server Operating System, including Active Directory.
As a SQL Database Administrator (DBA) you will be responsible for:
- Manage SQL Server databases.
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes.
- Monitor system’s health and performance.
- Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability and security.
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
- Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement.
- Provide support for business-critical systems.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities.
