Our client is seeking 11 Senior Professional Officers (Town Planning) to join their team on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced planning professionals to apply their expertise within a dynamic local government environment and contribute to the effective management of land-use applications across Cape Town.
Key responsibilities
As a Senior Professional Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Processing land-use applications across the eight district offices.
- Undertaking planning-related projects and tasks as assigned.
- Ensuring that all legislated timeframes, procedures and protocols are met and adhered to.
- Performing the necessary administrative functions associated with land-use planning applications.
Minimum requirements:
- A relevant degree in Town and Regional Planning.
- At least 5 years’ relevant postgraduate experience at an appropriate level.
- A minimum of 2 years’ related supervisory experience.
Additional skills and experience
- Technical or professional registration with SACPLAN.
- Sound working knowledge of planning and local government legislation, as well as NEMA regulations.
- Experience working with Development Application Management Systems (DAMS).
- Strong analytical, organisational and administrative skills.
- The ability to manage applications within prescribed legislative timeframes.
