Integration Engineer
 
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client, a well-established organisation in the financial services sector, is seeking an experienced Integration Engineer to join their technology team on a hybrid basis in Johannesburg. This role suits a hands-on middleware specialist who combines strong development skills with deep architectural insight, and who can design, build and support enterprise-grade integration solutions across a modern, containerised technology landscape.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience developing integrations using languages such as Java, Node.js and AWS Lambda
  • Experience working within Agile methodologies such as Scrum
  • Experience with CI/CD processes
  • In-depth understanding of the specific business domain and pertinent technologies
  • Expert-level technical knowledge of architecture, application systems design and integration with deployments
  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of modern enterprise architecture, with hands-on experience of enterprise application integration middleware and platforms
MINIMUM EDUCATION / TRAINING
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE
  • At least 6 years of job-related experience
  • Experience with SOA, ESB, XML and/or Web Services integration technologies
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering SOA/middleware integration projects, including modelling reusable business objects and services, and forward planning of recommended services against anticipated business needs
  • Experience with application containerisation technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes and OpenShift
  • Experience using multiple messaging protocols such as JMS, AMQP and MQTT
  • Experience using messaging systems such as RabbitMQ, Tibco EMS, Oracle AQ and WebLogic
Experience using event streaming technologies, such as Kafka
