PHARMACIST – DURBAN

Our client is seeking a qualified and registered Pharmacist to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of medication, providing expert clinical advice to patients, and ensuring full compliance with all relevant pharmaceutical legislation and professional standards.
 
Duties:
 
 
Accurately dispense prescription and over-the-counter medication in accordance with legal and ethical requirements.
Provide professional clinical advice and patient counselling on medication use, dosage, and potential interactions.
Conduct screening services where applicable (e.g. blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol testing) in line with scope of practice.
Ensure accurate stock control, including ordering, receiving, and managing pharmaceutical inventory.
Maintain full compliance with SAPC regulations, Good Pharmacy Practice, and all relevant health and safety standards.
Liaise with medical practitioners, medical aid schemes, and other healthcare professionals as required.
Supervise and support pharmacist assistants and other pharmacy staff where applicable.
Maintain accurate patient records and dispensing documentation.
Stay up to date with new medications, treatment protocols, and changes in pharmaceutical legislation.
Handle medical aid claims, authorisations, and related administrative processes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) degree or equivalent recognised pharmacy qualification.
Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist, in good standing.
A minimum of 5 years’ post-registration experience working within a private (retail) pharmacy environment.
Sound working knowledge of South African pharmaceutical legislation, including the Medicines and Related Substances Act, the Pharmacy Act, and Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) standards.
Proficiency with pharmacy dispensing software and point-of-sale systems.
Valid driver’s licence and own transport advantageous.
South African citizen or holder of a valid work permit.
