Our client is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Professional Officer to support an Asset Management Project on a fixed-term contract basis until 31 December 2026.
The successful incumbent will provide operational and administrative support to ensure the accuracy, completeness and integrity of the Department’s asset records and related SAP master data. The role will involve visiting various departmental sites to verify asset locations and employee allocations as part of a comprehensive asset data clean-up exercise.
Key Responsibilities
The successful incumbent will be responsible for, amongst others:
- Maintaining and updating the registers of the Department’s movable and immovable assets and specific equipment.
- Updating and maintaining the SAP database in respect of all asset movements.
- Updating and maintaining the Department’s insurance registers.
- Updating asset registers in respect of asset condemnations and write-offs, and providing support with insurance claims.
- Ensuring that asset database master data is accurate, complete and up to date in preparation for the annual verification of assets and stock.
- Cleaning up historic master data and ensuring that movable assets are correctly linked to current employees.
- Conducting physical verification of assets and employee allocations at various departmental sites.
Minimum Requirements
Qualification
- A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification, preferably a National Diploma or BCom in Accounting, Finance, Asset Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Experience
- 2 – 5 years relevant experience
- Practical experience with SAP Asset Management systems is compulsory.
Skills and Competencies
The successful candidate should have:
- Good working knowledge of SAP Asset Management modules.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word.
- Experience working with databases and large volumes of data.
- Ability to identify, investigate and resolve discrepancies in asset records.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- A valid driver’s licence would be advantageous where travelling between departmental sites is required.
