Quality Control Manager (Foundry Industry)

About the Role
An established foundry manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to lead and manage all quality assurance and quality control activities across the operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring product compliance, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and fostering strong relationships with customers and external service providers.
Key Responsibilities
    • Manage the company’s Quality Management System and ensure ongoing compliance with quality standards.
    • Conduct regular process and system audits to identify improvement opportunities.
    • Lead continuous improvement and quality review meetings, driving corrective and preventative actions.
    • Investigate, document, and manage customer complaints and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
    • Analyse quality data, identify trends, and recommend improvement initiatives.
    • Coordinate and conduct internal quality audits.
    • Manage internal and external scrap reduction programmes and corrective actions.
    • Develop and maintain quality plans, procedures, and quality records.
    • Ensure effective inspection and testing processes for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products.
    • Oversee control of non-conforming products and materials.
    • Manage calibration and maintenance schedules for measuring, inspection, and testing equipment.
    • Liaise with customers, suppliers, machine shops, and service providers regarding quality requirements and technical matters.
    • Identify training needs and facilitate quality-related training for employees.
    • Provide regular quality performance reports to senior management and recommend improvements.
    • Ensure adherence to all documented quality procedures and standards.
Minimum Requirements
    • Minimum 10 years’ quality control/quality assurance experience within a foundry environment.
    • Proven experience managing quality systems within a heavy manufacturing or engineering environment.
    • Strong understanding of quality assurance principles, continuous improvement methodologies, and root cause analysis.
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
    • Experience dealing directly with customers and external service providers.
    • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
    • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
    • Computer literacy and experience maintaining electronic quality records and reports.
Preferred Qualifications
    • Tertiary qualification in Quality Management, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
    • Quality Management certification would be advantageous.
    • Foundry industry knowledge and experience is highly preferred and will be given strong consideration.
