SENIOR ACCOUNTANT -DURBAN

Duties
The Senior Accountant will take ownership of the full accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and sound financial controls. This is a hands-on role suited to a seasoned accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, logistics-driven environment.
- Manage the full accounting function including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and fixed assets
- Prepare monthly management accounts, variance analysis and financial reports for senior management
- Oversee cash flow management, bank reconciliations and treasury functions
- Ensure compliance with SARS requirements including VAT returns, PAYE submissions and income tax
- Coordinate and manage the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors
- Prepare and review budgets and forecasts in collaboration with department heads
- Monitor and control costs across fleet, fuel, maintenance and operational expenditure
- Implement and maintain robust internal financial controls and accounting policies
- Supervise and mentor junior finance staff
- Assist with contract costing, route profitability analysis and pricing support for the operations teaminimum Requirements
- BCom Accounting or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification
- Completed SAICA, SAIPA or CIMA articles / qualification (advantageous)
- Minimum 5–8 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior role
- Experience in the logistics, transport or supply chain sector is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in accounting software (Pastel Evolution, SAP, Sage 300 or similar)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong knowledge of South African tax legislation and IFRS for SMEs
